Bloomsburg Downs IUP in Lacrosse
BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team scored the first seven goals of the game and went on to an easy, 23-6, win over Indiana (PA) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies started quickly in the game getting goals from Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) and Cali Toms (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) in the first minute and four overall goals in the first two minutes of play. After IUP got on the board 5:54 into the game, the Huskies rattled off the three of the next four goals to take a 10-2 lead with 15 minutes left in the half. After IUP made it 10-3, the Huskies closed out the half scoring seven consecutive goals to lead at halftime 17-3. IUP started the second half scoring two straight to make it 17-5, the Huskies scored four straight, including two more by Toms, to lead 21-5. After an IUP goal with just over two minutes to play, the Huskies ended the game with two goals in the final 15 seconds of action. The 23 goals scored by Bloomsburg were four shy of the school record set in 1995 in a win over Denver. Individually, Toms led the Huskies, now 2-3, 2-0 in the PSAC, with seven goals, two shy of the school record, while Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) and Megan Taylor (West Chester/West Chester) each scored three times. IUP, 2-1, 1-1 in the PSAC, got two goals from Kylie Miller. The Huskies play at West Chester on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. |
